SyncSim was founded by Dr. Leila Casteel with the goal to create meaningful, true-to-life clinical and professional training experiences facilitated by knowledgeable and experienced instructors. We replace the chance of a meaningful clinical experience with one specifically designed to align with nationally-recognized competencies. Meet the Team
Dr. Leila Casteel, DNP, APRN, NP-C
Founder & CEO
Dr. Casteel is a nationally certified family nurse practitioner with over 27 years' experience in clinical practice, teaching, curriculum development, simulation, game-based learning, and academic leadership. Her vision for innovative approaches aimed at tapping into learner curiosity and motivation has led to the development of multiple ed-tech products, including a CODIE-nominated pharmacology video game for nursing students, After decades spent strategizing ways to mainstream ideas others often referred to as "crazy", Dr. Casteel believes SyncSim represents a much-needed shift in a better direction.
Dwayne Casteel, BSN, EMT-CCP
Chief Operating Officer
Dwayne is an RN/paramedic with more than 28 years of experience in emergency management, interventional cardiology, intensive care, emergency response, air transport, and hazardous materials, As a key leader in the Clayton County, Ga. Fire and Emergency Services department, Mr. Casteel served as an EMT/Paramedic instructor and firefighter leadership development trainer. He brings to the chief operating officer role more than two decades of leading teams, developing and implementing critical policies, and supporting key organizational initiatives.
Josh Goodwin
Chief Technology Officer
Josh provides oversight of SyncSim's current and long-term technical strategies. Josh is passionate about using technology to solve the hardest problems, and has more than 25 years of experience building scalable solutions for both the healthcare and technology sectors. As Chief Technology Officer, Josh leads all Engineering and Product development, which are collectively responsible for launching and scaling the technology that underpins SyncSim's proprietary cloud-based virtual simulation platform. Prior to joining SyncSim, Josh served in the UX industry. Spending his time at Amazon, AllScripts, and MedHost developing Health Tech experiences in emerging technologies including artificial intelligence and machine learning.
