What is the registration process? There are two ways to easily register students for an upcoming synchronous clinical event. By clicking on the EXPERIENCES drop down menu under ABOUT US at the top of the page, sponsoring institutions can browse the catalog, review learning objectives and scenario overviews, see available upcoming dates, and then proceed to registration. Alternatively, if specific days/weeks/dates are needed, the sponsoring institution can go straight to the event calendar and see a list of all available events that meet their schedule and student needs. From there, they can register for the event(s) of their choice. Up to 48 students can be registered for any single event. All registration is handled conveniently and securely online, using a credit card. A roster of student information is needed at the time of registration. Want to schedule multiple events in one shot? Use our convenient cart system to quickly select, register, provide a roster, and add events to the cart before checking out and setting them all up at once. Once registration is complete, SyncSim will take care of the rest! We contact and prepare the students, manage the event, track performance, and provide assessment data on each student after their event has ended.

What is a synchronous virtual simulation?A synchronous virtual simulation is delivered remotely, with participants logging in from home to our online healthcare environment. Patient interactions occur with live standardized patients and credentialed, trained faculty are present throughout the experience, offering real-time feedback. Students experience real-life scenarios in real-time, and engage with peers, patients, faculty, and the healthcare team.

How is student performance assessed and reported?Students who attend a SyncSim clinical event will be provided several opportunities to demonstrate initial and terminal knowledge via the following processes: Submission of pre-simulation assignments specifically aligned to the learning objectives of the scenario. Submission of a pre-sim and post-sim quiz covering concepts aligned with the learning objectives of the scenario. Submission of a reflective post-simulation assignment Faculty evaluation in the areas of professionalism, clinical judgment, critical thinking, patient education, communication, collaboration, clinical skill knowledge, evidence-based decision-making, application of theoretical knowledge of health processes, and informatics. After each event, the sponsoring institution will receive an individualized summary report of performance against learning objectives for each participant. *note: SyncSim does not make final determinations regarding course grades or clinical hours awarded. The sponsoring institution must evaluate the performance data provided and award grades or clinical hours accordingly.

Can synchronous clinical experiences count when awarding clinical hours to nursing students? The board of nursing from each state provides guidelines and regulations to nursing programs regarding the use of simulation to meet clinical hour requirements. Many states allow the use of high-fidelity simulation to fulfill a percentage of this requirement, typically up to 50%. SyncSim's remotely-delivered clinical experiences provide fidelity through the use of live standardized patients, credentialed faculty interaction, pre-brief and de-brief, and interprofessional development. Our scenarios are designed and delivered in alignment with nationally recognized simulation standards, including those from INACSL, NCSBN, and SSH. In most states, this form of clinical simulation should provide 2 clinical hours for every live hour spent in the event. Individual institutions must determine the regulations in their state and make final determinations regarding the number of clinical hours to award.
